The Friends like to encourage the enjoyment of the Berryhill Fields by organising themed guided walks. Past years have included Wildlife Walks & Butterfly Walks with local expert, Dr Dave Skingsley from Staffordshire University, History Walks, Bat Walks, Dawn Chorus Walk, Mammal Walks, and a pre-Christmas Hot Toddy Walk.
The Walks that have been planned so far for this year are:
Saturday, 23rd June, 2018, 1pm to 3pm approx — Now taken place. Thanks to Andy Campbell (part of Stoke Council’s Countryside Team) for leading it, and to those who took part.
Saturday, 28th July, 2018, 1pm to 3pm approx, meeting at the top of Arbourfield Drive, Eaton Park. The guide will be David Simcock of the Parkhall Country Park Rangers (part of Stoke Council’s Countryside Team) who has run many school mini-beast hunts and promises that he will help you “investigate several different habitats on the reserve looking at the diverse mini beasts found in those habitats be it meadows, wild grassland, woodland or hedgerow“.
Please note: As the walks often include grass paths, which may be muddy and rutted in places, sturdy footwear is advised.
