Programme of Activities

History Chronology Walk:
Sunday, 11th March, 2001, 2p.m.
, Rob Redfern (star of BBC’s ‘History Quest’ programme, ‘Stoke Moat’ !) will lead the walk and talk about how the ‘Field’s fit into the history of the area from 10, 000B.C. to the Present Day. Meet at the former Health Centre, Hoveringham Drive, Eaton Park.

Visit to Carr Vale:
Wednesday, 14th March, 2001
– Visit to a Changing Places site, West of Bolsover, north Derbyshire. Meet at the Rainbow Centre, Bentilee, for a 9:30a.m. departure (Return by c.4p.m.). Please note that you must confirm your place on the trip by noon on Friday, 2nd March, 2001 – Telephone 01782 235888.

Tuesday, 27th March, 2001, 7:30p.m.
, Berry Hill Workingmen’s Club, Calvary Crescent, Bentilee. Entry £1 person (Teams of all sizes). Cash prizes depending on number of teams on the night.

Dawn Chorus Walk:
Come along and hear the dawn chorus on the Fields with wildlife expert, Derek Bolton, Sunday, 29th April, 2001 — Starts 4a.m.! Meet at Hall Hill Drive, Berryhill.

Bat Talk & Walk:
Wednesday, 23rd May, 2001, 7:30p.m.
, Berryhill Scout Hall, Wendy Close, Berryhill. Phil Burkinshaw of Staffordshire Bat Group will give a 45-1hr talk on bats then lead a walk onto the Berryhill Fields as the bats come out for sunset (c.9p.m.).

Pond Dip on Berryhill Fields:
Meet at the former Health Centre, Hoveringham Drive, Eaton Park, Sunday, 10th June, 2001, 10:30a.m. Guide: Ivor Beeston.

Open Meeting:
The Friends’ Open Meeting is at the Berry Hill Workingmen’s Club, Calvary Crescent, Bentilee, on Tuesday, 12th June, 2001, starting at 7:30p.m. Everyone welcomed.

Wildflower Walk:
Parkhall Ranger, Ivor Beeston, is once again your guide for this walk on Sunday, 8th July, 2001, 2p.m. from the end of Hall Hill Drive, Berryhill.

‘Bug Hunt’:
Find out about the insect life of the ‘Fields on this interesting walk, on Sunday, 12th August, 2001, 2p.m., from the end of Hall Hill Drive, Berryhill. Expert guide to be arranged.

‘The Monk’s Way’ Evening Talk:
Thursday, 11th October, 2001, 7:30p.m., Harold Clowes Centre (Small Hall), Brassington Way, Bentilee. Local history enthusiast, Dave Seabridge, will talk about the ‘Monk’s Way’ walk which originally linked the abbeys of Hulton, Croxden, and Dielacres.

The Quiz Nights are expected to continue on the last Tuesday of the month beyond the May one listed although the venue may be subject to review at that time, and additional events may be added at a later date.

Also please note, children are welcome to attend all the above events
if accompanied by a parent or guardian.
